We are working hard to improve the site, fix bugs and generally address issues as well as continuing with our development of tailcast. While we have had generally very positive feedback for our work to date (thank you), we will continue to work hard to do better. Also, we wanted to address one of the issues that has featured in the discussion: the idea of “commercialism” in tailcast. We hope this is helpful!
· tailcast was always intended to be an ever-evolving platform and the idea of mixing online and offline was there from the start – we are taking the next step in realising this soon with products based initially on print-on-demand;
· We hope that any fears that tailcast is suddenly going to become only a commercial enterprise or that somehow it will be damaged, will be allayed – clearly we have to become revenue earning or we will go out of business (providing tailcast ‘aint free folks!) but this isn’t a defensive move – rather we think we can make a very exciting site that delivers something special for all – (i) for our creators/artists - building a portfolio, reaching a wider audience, earning if they wish to…(ii) for… read more
My own thoughts, not necessarily those of the big guys on the top floor of the secret, sprawling Tailcast Headquarter Complex rumoured to be located on a tropical isle of the coast of Spain.
THE OLD TAILCAST
Why is there a new Tailcast? I liked the old Tailcast. Now there is all this emphasis on Tailcast Products in this new version. This can’t be good…can it?
Well, first off, the old Tailcast wasn’t the old Tailcast at all. There have been at least four versions of Tailcast. I haven’t been around for all of them. To get to the newest old Tailcast required investment in time and money. Such is the case with the new Tailcast, too. All those big name sites like YouTube and Facebook have advertising and huge investments of venture capital. Tailcast has neither, but it’s still a pretty cool site. So, in order keep the doors open, someone has to pay for it. By adding products we can pay for it ourselves and perhaps have the ability for struggling artistic types to make something off their work, too.
THE NEW TAILCAST
Yes there are bugs and loss of functionality in this newest version. That was… read more
During migration to the new platform, some of your usernames have had a number attached to the end. The reason for this is that on the old site, usernames were not unique and this has led to various problems.
For security reasons, we have had to make all usernames unique on the new site.
We will be offering a way of choosing a more suitable username in the future. The plan is to allow a 1 time only name change where you can choose a new username.
We're sorry for the inconvenience and thanks for bearing with us! read more
Hey!
I just stumbled upon the new Tailcast! (Honestly, I did have a sneak peak.)

In my recent journey through the mire of life I have run across something I want to share. The following words are not my own, I found them on a random webpage, I copied them and can't find them now so I can not accurately give you a source. To the author and to you I apologize for this, but I know beyond a shadow of doubt that there are people here who will benefit from the recital of these wedding vows to self. I will continue to search for the place where I first found them and I will post a link when I do. :)

I am no longer looking for the perfect partner
to salve all my wounds
and fix all my mix-ups
and bridge all my chasms.
I am no longer looking for the perfect partner
because I am my own perfect partner.
I will never again drop a bomb on my playground.
I will never again smash a mirror on my face.

Should this be a bit too long-winded for your liking, feel free to skip to 'THE IDEA'.
THE BACKSTORY: 4 days ago, something was born in me. Maybe delivered from God. Maybe it's just another result of mental chemical reactions.
4 days ago, I had a realisation. And when your mind is as scatty as mine, you're able to have several realisations a month, and if your memory sucks like mine does, it's very possible to have them more than once each. But this one struck a chord in me, which when you're desensitised to the vagabond ramblings of everyday life, is crucially important.
In this world of the Twitterati and facebook updates every time someone gets on or off a bus and this, what is essentially the dawn of the golden age of blogging, we can have so much access to so much information on other people. The odds are in my favour that you've never met me and already you have a rough idea that I have an idea of inexplicable origins about 4 days ago, that my memory is awful and that I'm a bit all over the place. Should the need ever arise, I could find out when Rupert… read more
I made a cipher. It's pretty easy to figure out. Most of it is qualitative. I probably shouldn't even be calling it a cipher. It's entitled "Strange Language", but I don't really care to talk about it right now. Look and figure, if you will.
The catastrophic failure of my prose tends to get me on a bit of a downer. I was in a good mood today, until I started writing. I just. . .can't take a simple premise and give it a purpose, can I? I have to write these meta-human pieces that can't possibly be deciphered. I suppose Strange Language isn't the only riddle I've written.
My name is Daniel. There is no Steffen Mitchell. If there is, he's hiding in some pipe, sleeping and dreaming dreams that he won't remember when he wakes. My first attempt at a novel was an exploration of an ensemble that encountered a bottomless pit, and what they did with it across the epoch of man.

Heaven is filled with Non-Euclidean buildings, and every problem has a machine to keep it in check. It's… read more

I would have to say I’m a mixture of old fashioned and whiz kid when it comes to technology. By that I mean that I’m happy to embrace technology and allow it to help me from day to day, but at the same time I see no reason why I should let it rule my life. Like the fact that I bought a new mp3 player today. Looking at the options in Argos I have to say that being skint doesn’t help you when you just want something plain and simple nowadays. There was no ‘normal’ mp3 players anymore, the cheapest one was about £30 (which incidentally was the one that broke, causing me to have to buy a new one). They all had the ability to be able to play videos and have this, that and the other run on it, but whatever happened to just something to play your music off? It’s the same with mobile phones. I really don’t see why people want the iPhone so much. You want something that will allow you to read shares, emails, go on the internet, play games etc. Well guess what it was already invented, it’s called a PDA.… read more
