most people now have a facebook, myspace or twitter account. Make sure you link your tailcast account with your existing social networks, publish your tailcast work on your facebook wall etc.
remember that you should also try to help your friends market their products and work by ensuring that you comment on any items that are notified in facebook or retweet (RT) their twitter message about their work. It's all about reciprocity so everytime you help a friend or contact get more publicity for their work they will be likely to do the same..
you should take some time (particularly on twitter and myspace) to search for like minded people and follow them and get to know them. This increases the chances that they will become part of your informal marketing network and help you get a wider audience for your work.
remember to take time to consider how your actions affect others. In our experience, if you can ensure you make more non product specific posts in twitter, facebook etc (and preferably at least 3-5 non product poster for every product notification) then there is more chance your friends, fans and family will continue to follow you and be interested in you. If in doubt follow the golden rule: act unto others....
create a banner or write an editorial or blog post for your own blog. Add a permanent link to your portfolio gallery in a prominent place in your blog's navigation. When blogging make sure you use relevant tags (which describe your work and the blog post), and insert a text link and an image link url for the items on tailcast (try to use descriptive flyover or alternative text titles for your links e.g. Mother's day greeting card). Always link it with other interesting information so that the reader might get to the page because of searching for that. For example if you make a Valentines Card why not write a little top 10 sexy things you can do on Valentines Day?
if you use a social bookmark service (e.g. digg, propeller, del.i.ci.ous) don't forget to bookmark your own page as it increases its overall web value. Even better partner up with tailcast friends whose work you like and agree to bookmark each others pages.
use these features to share your work privately on tailcast - just for you and your close friends or colleagues.
are you a member of an organisation (school, hell's angels, charity etc.)? why not create a coLab space? This is a private space just for you and your invitees to share photos, comments, poems and videos. You can use it to collate material together for your creative projects and it ensure you have a start group of people who will be willing to buy it and also share the product made from it with their networks (increasing the network effect).
post your work and products to relevant groups on tailcast, facebook, myspace etc.
use the friend invite tool to invite your wider network to tailcast.com they can then follow your activity, comment, 'like' and easily purchase your work. You can even import your existing contacts from google, aol, yahoo etc. in a couple of clicks! In addition your friends can subscribe to follow you as a fan on tailcast and this will keep them updated in their personal tailcast account of your latest activity.
make sure you spotlight, like and comment on work by other members on tailcast - in doing so it is more likely they will repay the favour and do the same for your work (which increases the chance that someone outside of your existing network will see it).
use the friend features on tailcast to expand your existing network.
use the 'share this' widget you can find around the site to share your work on your social networks and to your friends.
