Nothing Left

sisterjulia

There's no fight left No waste of breath No strength to find Another step Another stage Another try To salvage bits Of things slipped by To tired to wriggle I finally rest and find the peace Of no contest The truth of us The truth of me There's only one thing I can be. read more

Who blinds tears

The Message Usurped

david barron

What men as peacocks take to centre stage to play the fool? Then turn to common ways and tell the turned tale, That from on high passed down to be salvations way, Have let the freedoms choice all gone and went astray.     Wherein did man take book and seek the honest truth, Fall foul of the sin of pride, and look not up but down to sandal bare, Then fired up with zeal did orate the many, into subjugation, That fell on wounded men, and desolated a trying nation.     There where men would go to find the mercy seat, Was only man sitting, with decrees to help the ones who pay? That all was not as seems the future now finds true, As saddened humanity fell to colour blue.     Oh woe is man that held not the truth, but twisted word to suit, So all could see his folly not the fame, aye and still they swaggered, Call me father I speak for him above lord of all, Yet where. oh where was writ I ask thee, that show there fit for fall.   read more

Heated air coupled with ashes

victorgodot

Heated air coupled with ashes, and papers ripped in a soundless scratch - like a worrying gasp by the opponents of Gods The air-balooned skyies provided in the south of Arizona The lizards heated by the pursuit of horse-riding The dropping of blooded sweat, the smell of sand, the hard time Mikey had as he cooled down the gang – and he sat. And he tossed a coin and he took note of it and he waved in the air with his bare hands. read more

The highs and lows

Penitent

How I love the highs, and how I hate the lows, and still this feeling grows, as my gentle breathing slows, and my soul begins to glow, How I hate the highs! and how I love the lows, all lost within the things I know, and still this feeling grows, as my soul begins to glow, and the words will always flow, So I embrace the highs, and fight against the lows, how my love for you grows, as my soul begins to flow, and the world will always glow, How I need the highs!  How I need the lows!  As my gentle breathing slows, I'm lost within the things I know, and guided only by the love you show.   ~P~ read more

I Was Washed Ashore

Bejn Jonathon Xander

In this haze, I was shorn of all the flames that burned inside Nothing is ever that simple But when I saw you for the first time in years I knew the suprise was a novelty I wasn't sure I was washed ashore In the mist, I was taught to extinguish my fears Nothing is ever that simple But when you saw me on that fateful day I knew you saw straight through me I wasn't sure But I've been here before I wasn't sure I was washed ashore In the silver sand, I try to remember your last words Nothing is ever that simple As I waited in the sunlight I knew you had forgotten about me Those days were formed in the ocean waves Those days were formed in the ocean waves read more

Cotton Wool Dreams

Caroline2112

Nothing compares to the look in your eyes When they meet mine; Not one ounce of pain could ever be bred From those lips of yours. It's a shame they are no such things as fairies, To reward your kindness; And the world is mistaken in thinking that Heaven Belongs in the stars - It is you. For I have met the love of my life In my dreams, And you will remain there, to cushion my life, As long as I please. read more

Dreamer

Taymaz Valley

What am I in the eyes of my parents? A son? A child? A responsibility?   What am I in the eyes of my sibling? An older brother? A bully? A supporter?   What am I in my girlfriend’s eyes? A lover? A partner? A possibility?   What am I in the public’s eyes? A nobody? A non entity? An unknown?   What am I in your eyes? A dreamer? An insecure man? A writer/poet?   When I look in the mirror A stranger looks back.   That man cannot be me He’s too fat, Too old, Too uncouth.   So I should ask to be judged By my achievements and work.   Judge me by my thoughts And what lurks in my heart. For you then shall find a friend In this mess of a man.      read more

The Tale of James McHaggarty

L. A. Defiore

This is an incomplete epic poem. I'd love to know how I did with what I've written. Maybe someday I'll pick it up ... I looove stories about going to sea. :) I. My name is James McHaggarty, Son of Daniel, a seafaring man, Born in the British Isles, but Raised a proud Bostonian. My mother fled to New England, In hopes of living a better life; My father never returned to us, Tho' gossip spoke of a mistress in Fife.   My mother was staid and emotionally strong, And raised me on her own; And only when she took sick admitted She could not continue alone. To earn our keep for our small home, I was apprenticed at age eleven; And my master took me in the year That my mother was called up to Heaven.   I spent three years as the printer's devil, And at the end of my indenture I said farewell to my surrogate father In search of a grander adventure.     Altho' I have never met him, I Know my father and I are alike: I dreamt of going to sea as he did Ever since I was just a tyke: And when… read more

My Everest

Bejn Jonathon Xander

Glorious daydreams provoke the little known truth that leaves wonder "Perhaps we could spend the day together" But only if I could gather the courage to speak Behind the barrier of discontent I try to hide from the inevitable refrain: My time is running short My time is running short But I only have one request/This is the part I detest Will you... Will you... Stirring beneath the grey sky I found this silence is like a virus No words carry through the atmosphere Falling onto the anvil of ignorance I have wasted enough time now But I'm too anxious to care repeat refrain So how will this all end So how will this all end So how will this all end If only... If only... Oh if only... read more

storm, rain and lightning

zazian707

Sound fills the air The children hide under the covers Outside it's getting darker Rumble of the thunder seems to penetrate you Marvelous thing is a storm   Running inside to shelter they go And some people running outside to splash in the puddles Inside the people are drinking hot cocoa Not the others, just watch them go go   Light fills the sky so dark Inside the dog begins to bark Glorious lights in the sky Having trouble sleeping, i wonder why The loud CRACK makes the kids run for mummy Never strikes twice my grandpa used to say It will soon pass over it will soon go away Now as the lightning leaves, you can just hear it say Good night for now i'll be back another day read more

End of Soulmates

Bejn Jonathon Xander

This rain cascades from another time From the depths of hope, where the heartless rise What if We were both wrong We gave up on something that was meant to be eternal Dark clouds signal the morning Somewhere you ascend without a care Maybe I was right But all along I knew even the lifeless can die It's hard to see through this haze Where the truth is drowned by nostalgia What if Soulmates never die We are tethered To a spiteful lie I don't need you I need someone who needs me read more
