- For My Tommy
For my Tommy.
Oh Tommy dear I’ve just heard about your death today,
They say the Taliban blew you up, with two of your best mates,
I know you told me of them dear, but I don’t recall their names,
See my eyes are full of tears just now, and I don’t know who to blame.
Oh Tommy dear, they say they’ll bring you back quite soon,
They’ll drop you off on some bleak airfield somewhere not far off,
Then me and dad, your brother too, can show you our respect,
Dads ordered some nice carnations, and your captain will inspect.
Oh Tommy dear, I hope you felt no pain that day,
I miss you oh so terribly, my brain it just won’t clear,
Your brother says he wants to go, and get those did the deed,
Now dad and I have had a word but we think you’ve sowed the seed.
Oh Tommy dear, I must now close, I’ll think of you always,
Your in my prayers and in my heart, I’ll try to visit when I can,
Yet it’s not the same dear Tommy when I cannot speak with you,
I can only send this heart felt wish, and hope you know it’s true.
God Bless You Tommy Mum
