this is interesting! I'm trying to keep the actual thinking process out though. I don't (have to) portray the other senses in my work, but as a writer you have to portray them all in your writing. I think that's why I'm in awe of what other artists do - for the above reasons, but I also don't need/have the skills of a painter for instance.
