“You don’t have to have a background in art history or formal training to appreciate art,†says Elliot Boswell, boswell Gallery owner in Decatur, Ga . Making art available to all is central to his philosophy on sharing the beauty of art. The front door is nearly always open at the gallery on Ponce de Leon Place, serving as an invitation for folks to wander in. Inside, walls are lined with paintings, sculpture and photographs done by local and international artists.
The idea for the gallery grew out of his own love for painting and his desire to give something back to the Decatur community. “I wanted to add to Decatur’s night life by giving people who are out and about dining, shopping, or working, a place to come in and enjoy art. Every day we have people that stop in the gallery to get their daily dose of art.â€
A self-taught painter, Elliott had a large group of artist friends that needed someone to represent their work. To get them exposure, Boswell felt it important their work be seen in other public venues. That was three years ago. Today, art from boswell Gallery can be seen in restaurants, salons and shops all over Decatur and Atlanta.
Boswell, who has been painting all his life, began his career as an art director. “Painting used to be my past time while I worked on productions.†For years, the artist designed and built sets and props for films, music videos and television shows such as Mr. Rogers Neighborhood. His love of painting grew as he explored images and light, shadows and perspectives. Eventually his painting moved to the forefront as he won awards and commissions for commercial and residential pieces. These days, he spends much of his time in his studio behind his Decatur home bringing images to life.
“Art should be available for everyone,†says Boswell, pointing out that the artists he represents price all their own artwork helping keep pieces affordable.
The gallery also offers a range of services from consultation to framing and installation. Whether collecting, renovating or upgrading your home or office, the staff at the gallery can help.

I painted a tree in tiles, 90cm/90cm approx. The panel is in Portugal, where my mother is living and where was my home before :) , I am living in the UK now. It's heavy that's why I didn't bring it with me...yet! I do not have any picture now. I had some before, but burned when my house in Portugal caught fire. What a pity, or you could see it. Well, one day I show you...I promise :) Bye-bye

I'm very disappointed that I found out the tailcastapi channel on YouTube are posting some of our videos without attribution to our YT channel. They are using us to promote tailcast without caring enough to ask our permission or give us credit. I've flagged the videos that belong to me for copyright infringement! Sending this to everyone on my friend list.

Would you consider an artist from Colorado "local" enough to show in your gallery? I read your post about the old folks commenting in your space. I am sure you developed a thick skin when it comes to opinions about art, if you haven't you will. It is a blessing to be able to make a living with art and if you do this who cares what anyone else thinks. Opinions are like assholes, everyone's got one and they all stink (a little diddy I like to remind myself from time to time). Be Well & Enjoy the Day!!
